Meet the Pastor
Jimmy Bayes has been pastor of Good News Assembly for five years.

Pastor Bayes grew up in Lovington and attended the church when it was First Assembly of God on 4th street.
He left Lovington to attend Bible College in Waxahachie, Texas then went to seminary in Springfield, Missiouri. After school, he worked for Teen Challenge in Midland, Texas for five years.
He met his wife, Michelle, in Midland and they continued working at Teen Challenge until they decided to go to Fort Worth to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
The Bayes' taught at a christian school and were Children's pastors until they answered the call to pastor in Lovington.
They have one daughter that is eleven years old.

“I tried, but no one ever called me” are painful words for a leader who has much work to do and not enough people willing to do it. These words are painful for the person who wanted to contribute, but was never called. These are also painful words for a person who is committed to helping people connect and contribute in meaningful ways within the church.
